- Is Brain Mapping the same as EEG?
Brain mapping uses EEG technology to collect data, but the mapping process also includes analyzing the patterns of brainwaves to understand brain function and connectivity, often represented visually in a map format.
- What can Brain Mapping be used for?
Brain mapping can help identify issues related to attention, memory, mood regulation, anxiety, sleep disorders, and more. It is commonly used in neuroscience, psychology, and alternative health treatments
- Can brain mapping diagnose mental health disorders?
Brain mapping does not provide a formal diagnosis but can help identify abnormal patterns of brain activity that may be associated with certain mental health conditions, offering insights for further investigation or treatment.
- Is it safe?
Yes, brain mapping through EEG is completely safe and non-invasive. It simply measures electrical activity in the brain and does not emit any harmful radiation or electrical impulses.
- Does it hurt?
No, the process is painless and comfortable. It involves placing small electrodes on the scalp to record brainwaves.
- Do you offer neurofeedback?
No, we currently do not offer neurofeedback.
- What do I need to prepare before the appointment?
No major preparations are required before your appointment. However, we kindly ask that you bring a list of any medications you are currently taking. Please avoid tying up your hair, as the process involves applying gel to the scalp, which will need to be washed off after the session. We recommend keeping this in mind when planning for your day.
- How long does an appointment take?
The initial Brain mapping appointment takes about 45 minutes and the consultation appointment takes about 1 hour.
- Does insurance cover it?
No, insurance does not cover brain mapping.
- How much does a brain mapping session cost?
A session costs a flat rate of $500, which includes the initial appointment, as well as the follow up appointment to discuss results.
- What do the results show?
The results show different patterns of brainwave activity across various areas of the brain. These patterns can be compared to a normative database to highlight areas of dysregulation, overactivity, or underactivity.
- How soon can I get results?
A minimum of 1 week after the initial appointment.
- Do I need multiple sessions?
Aside from the initial appointment and the consultation, no further sessions are necessary, but may be beneficial depending on the doctor’s recommendation.
